YOUR NAME
Your Name was recorded as a part of a Rock recording session with Nicadrio Lee that was engineered by me. It took place on Friday, December 12th during the fall semester of 2021. Besides Your Name there were four more songs recorded on that Friday, their names were Sometimes, Crush, Poltergeist, and Running through the street. The instrumentation was two guitars each one equipped with an amp, an electric bass, drums, and a vocalist. The recording took place at the James Dolan studio located in the Steinhardt education building.

BASS
The vocal performer was singing into a Neuman U67 tube microphone with a pop filter. Both guitars were feeding their clean signal through active DIs. The first amp had a Neuman M147 tube microphone facing one cone and a dynamic Shure SM57 in the other cone. The second amp had a dynamic Shure SM57 on the first cone and a Royer 121 ribbon microphone. The electric bass was feeding its clean signal through a passive DI and a Sennheiser e602ii was placed dead center on its amp’s cone.
Drums
For the drum kit, it was decided to select mostly dynamic microphones that fit the style of the rock recording. For the kick drum, we placed an EV RE-20 inside the drum and a Sennheiser e602ii outside the drum. For the snare, two microphones were placed on top and bottom of the drum. At the top a Sennheiser MD 421, and at the bottom a Shure SM7B. Both rack tom and floor tom had Shure SM57s and the high hat had a Sennheiser 441. For the overheads, we placed two AKG 414’s at an equal distance from the snare drum. Finally, a Neuman 150 tube microphone was placed in front of the drum set for a room effect.
